In the age-old olive grove, the starting point is ‘soil fertility’, according to the biodynamic agriculture principle. This principle together with the artisanal production method is a guarantee for a superior quality of Extra Virgin olive oil.
In addition, for our own consumption, we grow table olives, various types of vegetables, fruit, nuts, aromatic, medicinal herbs and spontaneously (wild) growing asparagus.
The current industrial food chain, driven by a (fundamentally stuck) top-down system that emphasizes efficiency and economies of scale, is unsustainable. The lavish use of fertilizers/chemicals is destroying the earth, while pesticides are driving species extinction, contaminating the soil and killing microorganisms important for healthy composting and humus formation.
In the last century, the global, free-market mechanism and thinking pushed out the small-scale, mainly agrarian society and caused enormous income and wealth inequality. Due to this division of labor and capital, those who provide natural products and services for the food supply, “create the values”, are no longer rewarded with a fair income for their efforts that should enable them to provide for the basic needs independently and to improve this.
Promoted by a powerful lobby behind global financial institutions/multinationals, partly by social engineering of the scientific culture and with EU funding, we now see with our eyes that the small-scale ecological family farming are being systematically dismantled by creating so-called. ‘Urban Food Systems and block chain-based, digital twin’ platform to develop the food cultivation method within a building, based on hydroponics, using genetic modification (GMO), hazardous biotechnologies and artificial light for plants or crops and synthetic laboratory meat, to produce, regulate, with the aim worldwide, to transform and obtain total control over the food supply, from (patented) seed to the plate.
The fundamental principle should be: avoid all measures that weaken the order and laws of nature (of which we humans are a part), and according to which nature develops. This simple principle is minimally defended worldwide because especially the powerful lobby behind the global big pharma and chemical corporations has an incredible amount of power and influence, people have convinced them that this is complicated and difficult (it is not) and the modern (conventional) agriculture is designed to produce high yields to future-proof our food supply for global population growth.
The truth is that yes, biodynamic farming can feed the world!
All you need to do is set your own limits, without wanting to regulate or even manipulate the climate, nature and the oldest agricultural civilizations on earth, stick to the age-old principles we all know: the birds and the bees.
